S-1 Personnel | Air Wing Open for Business |
Due to various factors, primarily the infantry having taken a huge hit after the Christmas holidays, the air wing had shut it's doors to filling empty billets. Now, after an extended period of closure, the 15th MEU(SOC) Aviation Combat Element is opening up its billets again. Several air wing billets have opened back up and are being made available to existing members before becoming available to new joins. The Student Pilot Program is back into full swing. The only section not feeling the rush of open billets are the Flying Nightmares who seem to keep their ranks full almost all the time. |

S-3 Operations | 2010 Training |
The first quarter of 2010 is almost over and we are in full swing with trainings from the top down. Teams are training weekly, squads and sections bi-weekly and even platoon training is going every month. We are rolling into our second Combined Arms Exercise of the year, but the second quarter has new and hopefully better things planned for unit events. As we move into the second quarter of 2010 the unit will be going to the Extended Field Training Exercise system. They will be essentially the next generational step up from the CAX's that were our staple unit exercises to date. Now, that is not to say we may not still conduct CAX's again in the future, or that there will not be a CAX 03-10. What it does mean is that the days of one-shot unit events is coming to an end. Mutli-day events that feed off each other is where the Command Staff is wanting to head. Where logistics matter, ammunition shortages can occur, vehicle damage rolls into the next mission, and the fact that you failed to safely escort those supply trucks means you've got two magazines of ammo and no NVG's because your batteries were on the truck you left behind last mission. One step closer to realism... for better or worse. |

S-4 Logistics | 2010 Server Plans |
With the newly collateral duty billeted Master Guns the Command Staff is working on trying to procure at least one official server so we can get our 15th MEU(SOC) Recruiting server up and running again. Also, the Command Staff is working on a 15th MEU Support Servers SOP. This would allow members that wish to provide a server for unit use a way to give them a link and official association to this unit. What the Command Staff is working on is balancing that fine line between keeping you in charge of your server but maintaining the image, rules, and regulations of the the unit intact. Once the policy is ready we'll get it out there so when you do a server list filtering "15th" you start to see: 15th MEU Recruiting 15th MEU Drill 15th MEU Gator 15th MEU Camp Hughes This way the unit has several sources for training. And increasing our ability to conduct training on various other servers is never a bad thing... I think. |
