Every unit has a structure, without structure there is chaos and not the nice friendly, lay down massive amounts of fire power or knock out armored vehicles and punch holes in walls kind of chaos.  And since we simulate a Marine Corps environment but utilizing real world Marine Corps organization and tactics, we have a structure.

Our unit is broken down into four distinct groups designated Elements.  We have a Command Element, Ground Combat Element, Aviation Combat Element and a Logistics Combat Element.

The Command Element houses the Command Staff and Headquarters Sections.  The Command Staff are the three founders of this unit and make all the major decisions that effect the entire unit; setting up and modifying policies and procedures, opening new sections of the MEU and other various duties.  The Headquarters Section is broken down into four parts; the S-1 Personnel Section, S-2 Intelligence Section, S-3 Operations & Training Section and the S-4 Logistics Section.  These sections are collateral duty billets that are staffed by volunteers assisting in the day to day operations of the unit at the upper levels.

The Ground Combat Element houses the bulk of our fighting forces, primarily the infantry.  All other sections of the Ground Combat Element and even the rest of the MEU exist to support the infantry.  This is where the grunts, tankers, LAV crews, AAV crews, Recon and Snipers are billeted.  Their primary role is to serve as the MEU's front line fighting forces to accomplish whatever missions are handed down by the Command Staff.

Aviation Combat Element is an air combat and support group that provides the MEU with an unleveled amount of fire power and support at the beck and call of the ground forces.  We have UH-1 Hueys, AH-1 Cobras, MV-22 Ospreys, AV-8 Harriers and eventually CH-53s who's sole purpose in life is to rain death and destruction upong the enemey and to put fighting forces on the ground.

The Logistics Combat Element is our primary support section that consists of Combat Engineers and Corpsmen.  If you absolutely possitively have to have it blown up, any time of day, any day of the week, then you call on your Combat Engineers.  Our Navy brethern that act as shooters first and caregivers second are billeted in our Battalion Aid Station and designated Corpsman.  You never want to have to make the call but when you need medical assistant they are but a shout away, "Corpsman UP!"
